Come along to this session to hear some tips and tricks from a panel of rejection experts – people who have been rejector and rejectee so many times they’ve lost count but still have successful art careers!

Speakers Raquel Ormella and Saskia Scott will share their pro tips and tricks for how to bounce back and make positive career goals.

Presenter biographies

Raquel Ormella

Since 2006 Raquel Ormella has taught painting at ANU in the 3rd year, Honors and post-graduate programs. Raquel completed her undergraduate degree and a Masters by research, at the University of Western Sydney, and in 2013 a PhD at ANU. Her thesis examined human relationships with urban birds. She has been exhibiting regularly in national and international exhibitions for over a decade. Recent exhibitions include The 1st Californian Pacific Triennial, Orange County Museum of Art, USA; Direct Democracy, MUMA, Melbourne, 2013; the 8th Shanghai Biennial, China, 2012; the 1st Aichi Triennale, Nagoya, Japan; and In the balance, MCA, Sydney, 2010.

 

Saskia Scott

Saskia Scott is a curator, arts writer and artist. In 2016, she graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Ceramics) from the University of South Australia, and a Bachelor of Arts (Politics & International Studies and Hispanic Studies) from The University of Adelaide. In 2016, she received a grant from the Helpmann Academy to curate exhibitions for the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, which led to her employment as Gallery Coordinator (Women’s and Children’s Hospital Foundation), delivering a changing exhibition program across four gallery spaces and an artist in residence program within the Hospital. In 2017, she completed a Graduate Certificate in Art History (University of Adelaide). Saskia is currently Gallery Administrator at the ANU School of Art & Design Gallery, in Canberra.
