The Canberra Region Branch of the Australian Society for the Study of Labour History (ASSLH) and the ANU Australian Studies Institute (AuSI) invite students undertaking an honours or postgraduate thesis of at least 10,000 words to apply for the 2024 Eric Fry Labour History Research Grant.

The Grant provides a wonderful opportunity for students undertaking research on a labour or social history related theme, to research at the Noel Butlin Archives Centre (NBAC) based at The Australian National University (ANU).

Established in 2004, AuSI is very proud to continually sponsor this longstanding award which promotes the study, teaching and research of labour history and encourages the preservation of labour archives. Each year, the successful applicant is awarded $1,000 to assist with covering potential travel and research related expenses.

Last year’s Eric Fry Labour History Research Grant was awarded to Katie Wood from LaTrobe University for her research on the ‘History of Women in the Australian Metal Trades 1888 – 1951’.
