Promised the Moon: Lift Off & Panel Discussion

Join us in the ANU School of Art & Design Lecture Theatre for an engaging panel discussion on the significance of Canberra’s unique space heritage, and a how this history has inspired the artists in the exhibition, Promised the Moon.

After the panel, drinks and light refreshments will be served in the Main Gallery and you will have the opportunity to view the exhibition.

This event is part of Moon Week, presented by the Australian National Univeristy in partnership with the ACT Government. 

The panel will be facilitated by Dr David Hansen, Acting Director, Centre for Art Theory & Art History and will include the following speakers:

Glen Nagle, Outreach and Administrative Lead, NASA Operations Support Officer, Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex

Mike Dinn, Former Deputy Director, Honeysuckle Creek Tracking Station

Promised the Moon Exhibition

Fifty years after the Apollo 11 Mission, fourteen artists reflect on the Australian Capital Territory’s unique space heritage and the region’s connections to the lunar landings.

Artists: Bec Bigg-Wither, Tom Buckland, Heather Burness, Susan Chancellor, Dean Cross, Deirdre Feeney, UK Frederick, Lee Grant, Ellis Hutch, Julian Laffan, Jacqui Malins, Rose Montebello, Macdonald Nichols, and Erica Seccombe.

Promised the Moon is supported by the ACT Government's Heritage Grant Programme and the Australian National University.
