The Humanities Research Centre at the Australian National University is inviting applications for our 2022 Visiting Fellowship program. The main scheme provides travel and accommodation for up to 3 months, as per information provided at https://hrc.cass.anu.edu.au/visiting-fellowships-program.
Our theme for 2022 is “Mobilities”, a description of which appears below.
We encourage eligible scholars from all over the world and working in every discipline to apply, however, as travel in and out of Australia is very strictly regulated during the pandemic, we are particularly seeking applications especially (but not exclusively) from Australian-based scholars for next year’s program. We also warmly invite scholars who have joined us as visiting fellows previously, including in recent years, to re-apply for 2022.
MOBILITIES
Migration, asylum, tourism, transport, urban mobility, career mobility, social mobility, emotion and affect – the HRC’s theme for 2022 registers the growing use of ‘mobility’ and ‘mobilities’ as key descriptive and theoretical terms in the humanities and social sciences, and offers an invitation to scholars to think about the concept in creative and interdisciplinary ways. In line with the suggestive multivalence of the word itself, proposals might consider ‘mobility’ socio-politically, physically, or mentally, as a local or global phenomenon, in different cultures and different historical periods – or they might want to investigate the extent to which the COVID-19 pandemic has affected our social, physical, and psychological mobility, and the way we are likely to act and think about mobility and immobility in the future. The Humanities Research Centre looks forward to welcoming scholars from across the world (where mobility is possible!), and across the disciplines as we explore a topic that will not stand still.
Applications close on 30 September 2021. Guidelines for applicants, including the application process and eligibility requirements are at https://hrc.cass.anu.edu.au/visiting-fellowships-program
