Harvesting the low hanging fruit? ‘New governance’ in the Dutch and Australian buildings sectors

It argues that this comparative study suggests that ‘new governance’ is not a global model of governance that is easily identified. The findings further suggest that contextual characteristics (local institutions, market conditions, regulatory setting) strongly affect the take-up of ‘new governance’ and possibly its outcomes.

Dr Jeroen van der Heijden

Dr Jeroen van der Heijden is an assistant professor at RegNet at the ANU and the University of Amsterdam (Amsterdam Law School). Currently Jeroen is working on a four year research project on New Governance, funded through an early career researcher’s grant by the Dutch Organisation for Scientific Research. This research addresses an emerging trend of new governance arrangements that aim to achieve sustainable development without the traditional force of law.
