Scholarships and travel grants in archaeology and anthropology

A number of scholarships, prizes and travel grants are currently open to undergrad and postgrad students in archaeology, anthropology and associated disciplines.

Primate Conservation Travel Grant

Applications open: 30 January 2024 - 5 April 2024

There are up to four travel grants on offer ranging from $500- $2,000. The grant is open to postgraduate students undertaking coursework in bioanthropology, specialising in primatology.

Rhys Jones Fieldwork Award

Applications open from 6 February 2024 - 5 April 2024

There is one $1,500 award on offer. The objective of the Award is to provide financial support to students conducting archaeological fieldwork in the Australia-Pacific (“fieldwork”) who may otherwise find it difficult to obtain funding for their research. It is open to Honours/Masters/ HDR students undertaking fieldwork approved by the Head of School (or delegated authority) of the ANU School of Archaeology and Anthropology.

Vis and Anjeli Nathan Travel Grant (Anthropology)

Applications open 30 January 2024 - 5 April 2024

There is one travel grant of $1,400 on offer. The objective of the award is to provide support to facilitate travel or fieldwork to an undergraduate student who is enrolled in a full-time capacity in an undergraduate anthropology program and has demonstrated a high capacity for achievement in that field of study.
